Nancy Reagan inspires Mark Levin's presidential pick

Syndicated radio host Mark Levin endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president during a broadcast late Wednesday.
"I support Ted Cruz for the president of the United States because I believe everything I've just discussed with you he appreciates, he embraces, he understands and he has fought for throughout his life as well," Levin said. "That is the Constitution, the Republic, individual sovereignty, separation of powers, the Bill of Rights, family, faith, a secure border, our national security."
Levin said he chose to make the announcement now because of the emotional response he has had in the days since former President Ronald Reagan's wife Nancy died.
He pointed at the "whole picture" of Cruz's life and career as a constitutional lawyer as evidence he was the Republican for the job.
Although Levin waited until mid-March to endorse the senator, he has consistently praised Cruz since he was elected to Congress in 2012. Levin has defended Cruz from attacks by Donald Trump and other rival candidates since he announced his candidacy for president last summer.
"Either cut the crap — your accusations this morning that Cruz is Canadian, a criminal, owned by big banks, etc. ... or you will lose lots and lots of conservatives," Levin wrote in a January Facebook post directed at Trump.
Cruz is ranked second in the Washington Examiner's latest presidential power rankings.
